By portraying a group of Mexican immigrants working at two New York City restaurant kitchens, I wanted to give prominence to those —mostly illegal workers—neglected by The Zagat, The New York Times food reviews and the US Government. These photographs depicted them in the way they want to be recognized, as one of them points, “just honest, hardworkers”. At least once, they will be in the picture taking the stage otherwise reserved for the celebrity-chef in turn.
